Livestock farming
A broad policy mix and long-term financing are required for more animal welfare and lower greenhouse gas emissions in livestock farming.
The conditions of animal husbandry as well as the environmental and climate impacts of livestock farming in Germany have faced significant criticism. To align with current research and changing societal demands, livestock farming must be restructured according to the guiding principle of "less and better". This effort will only succeed if enhanced animal welfare is supported by public money and if there is a political strategy in place to reduce both the consumption and production of animal products. Concrete proposals for restructuring livestock farming have already been developed. Agora Agriculture contributes to refining these proposals and facilitating their political implementation.
