Common Agricultural Policy of the EU (CAP)
The CAP is a key instrument for shaping agriculture in Germany and the EU. A CAP oriented towards sustainability goals allows for remuneration of farmers for providing public goods.
Under the CAP, Germany has access to about six billion euros in EU funds each year to support its agricultural sector. This money should be delivered to farmers in a more targeted manner than today for the provision of public goods, such as environmental protection, climate mitigation and animal welfare. Agora Agriculture develops concepts to further develop the CAP at the EU level and provides policy proposals for aligning the CAP more closely with sustainability goals in Germany, while adhering to existing EU requirements.
